Hello From South Devon
« on: September 23, 2012, 03:38:52 pm »
Hi my names Martin and i live in the Avon Valley in the South Hams in South Devon, My parents and i have a smallholding of some 50 acres which has been down sized to this acerage over the last ten years due to my Farthers health.
I have been involved in livestock farming all my 40+ years of my life and enjoy it everyday. We have over the years had Pedigree AA Cattle and around 250 breeding commercial ewes and a herd of Pedigree British Alpine , Anglo Nubian and AOV Dairy goats. Now we are only small fry we have two Pedigree Dexter cows with calves at foot , two Saddleback x weaners for the freezer, around 60 ewes ( pedigree Zwartbles,Pedigree Hampshire and few cross breeds) plus lambs also poultry in numerous breeds .
Well that's me i hope u all enjoy ur Smallholdings and have fun discovering the joys of living with animals ,.

Hello and welcome from a rather dismal north Cumbria  :raining:

I have friends and relatives in Devon, used to live in Exmoor and was active in DASH.  I do miss my friends, especially the DASHers, and Oh!  I miss summer!

But, I love it here (apart from the weather) and am at last living the life I have wanted for so long.   :pig: :chook: :cow: :dog: :horse: :sheep: :&> :farmer: :knit:
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing
