Hi taz .... exbat hens are in short supply in Scotland .... I've had my name down for some .... for the best apart of 6 months ... it's due to the changes in the law over cage sizes .... hens are being kept for longer .....

... are you signed up with BHWT ....???

Cheers

Why's that then?  Try as I might, I can't figure out why it should make a difference?

Womble haws things at the mo iv had 3 phone calls this week 6 hens free and the house take away 2 young pigs and 1 horse free. its   the west coast 60 miles away . i used to mix corn and bruised barley and sell 30 kilogram bags for £5 naw all barley has been sold and the price has gone up to £10 . mixt grain average 20 kil bag £9 wood shavings £6 naw gone up to £10. so on 10 hens the cost has gone up £9 so with the wether as its been £21 for 10 hens feed twice a day £5 a week to keep 10 hens no eggs and lots of work .......its not good

Hang on. We may be back on the punctuation debate here. I can not understand what on earth someone is trying to tell us here ( and neither can the OH).

Have you tried Lembas? I know they have in the past sold ex-freerange organic layers... Don't know whether they still do, or whether they have any at the moment. (Actually, it might be their neighbours who do the eggs - can't remember their name. They cooperate on many things.)

costs have gone thru roof and s**t profit.

its interesting to hear business side of things from other people cos not everyone on here  is a hobby farmer.

our freerange farmlays were 50p each. but did bring redmites which took ages and ages to get rid of, cost alot in potions, then they started eating the eggs and used to invade the vegie patch with a passion. shame, wouldnt get them again. but goodluck with finding some.

Yes we could do with VF over here couldnt we MAK?
Im sure he'd do a much better job than Meteo who change their minds every couple of hours! Mind you, if they are to be believed, I will be able to do my outside chores during the next few days rather than hibernating like we have been doing this past week! Did you have any high winds?
