My car gave me an ice alert this morning at 10.30.  Don't know how far temps dropped last night but it must have been low.

UP DATE 22/10  The weather during the coming week will be notable for its contrasts. During the first half of the week temperatures will be well above the seasonal average in southern regions, possibly pushing up to about 20C (68F, but this isn't set to last. Things will begin to change during the middle of the week, as pressure rises over Greenland, blocking the flow of weather system from the Atlantic. This in turn will allow very cold air to begin pushing south from the artic towards Britain, and it looks as though by next weekend it will have made it all the way to southern counties. This will bring an increasing risk of widespread overnight frosts, and there could even be some snow in places. The snow risk will be much higher in the north and particularly over high ground. However, the cold plunge looks set to be quite notable for the time of year, and it's not possible at this stage to rule out the possibility of snow falling further south for a time.                                            :gloomy:

Thanks, VF.  Couldn't you find one that predicts a heat wave?   :-J   I know we'd be disappointed when it didn't happen but at least we'd have something to look forward to for a bit.  After the 'summer' we've had, don't we deserve a good winter?   :(

The last day of german summer time and we've got almost a foot of snow
Its now monday and although the depth of the snow has dropped so too has the temp ! Minus 3 this morning and obviously a lot colder last night. the small animal waters froze and the large buckets got ice on the surface....and thats in my hot horses stable.
I wasn't ready for winter just yet. Its wierd seeing sun flowers and sweet peas covered in snow.
