I couldn't remember where I read about the tops being bad for them so I googled it and found loads of stuff about people feeding the whole plant. Is it an old wives tale? Anyone?

I reckon it's alot of it is old wives tales. There wouldn't have been a study conducted to test the various effects of veg. 

I just make sure that mine never have too much of one thing. A little and often seems to be ok.  I'll not be feeding them a stock bag of parsnips or whatever but I wouldn't lose the plot about the odd ones being fed. My pigs are all still standing

This is imporatant,. Has anyone any evidence of pig mouth blisters after being fed raw parsnips or turnips or any adverse effects of eating a few raw spuds. I am spending so much time collecing dry branches, lighting a fire and boiling up the above roots and tops. It would help if we can get a difinitive view on this.

Ours have eaten a fair amount of raw turnips with no problem. We also let them dig over the previous year's spud patch and clear it of any escaped potatoes that we missed when lifting them. No problems there either.
