Has anyone tried giving apple cider vinegar to their animals (or indeed themselves)?
It sounds like a great natural product but I would be interested to hear whether any of you guys have seen it work miracles?

I use it as a safe guard in the water worms dont like it ,just a bit will shine the water it will go to minus 5 in winter but it    do sent   do miracles Damascusearth dose.

My boss uses it in the poultry water for worms also, says it makes the gut inhospitable so they don't hang around. Trouble is getting the birds to drink from the 'medicated' drinkers rather than any muddy puddles!!

We use a few drops in the dogs water bowl to stop them scorching the lawn with their urine.

As others have said, we use it quite a lot in our poultry water - hens and quail.


I did read that it was good for other animals but haven't tried it.

I use it one week per month in the hen water. Don't know if it really does much at the recommended dilution, but it does no harm. The bottle states use for many animals but I cannot see the dogs drinking the water with the smell

Goats get it in their water, just as a helpful additive.
Not sure it would make sense for the sheep, as mine do not really drink tthat much.

I use it every other week for the chickens and I always have two drinkers out (one with just plain water) so they have a choice.  I get the ACV from our local equestrian supplier as they sell the vinegar in its pure, unpasteurised, natural form with the 'mother' intact.  (The ACV you can buy from the supermarket is a totally different product.)

(i don't think much of the claims about sex ratio though)


Ideal as a drench, 50/50 with water.  About 10-20mls per sheep once a month I think.  Cheaper way of doing it than putting it in their water.  One day when I can justify buying an automatic drench gun I might do it .


Also ACV with garlic.  I'm sure I have some more info somewhere...

All fit and healthy      No noticeable difference but when we had our one week of nice weather this summer they drank more from the one with ACV.  Now it's turned colder they're mainly drinking from the plain water one.  No telling with chooks though - they are a bit     and it could just be that they have taken a temporary dislike to the drinker.

Yes that was the webpage I stumpled upon when I was trying to look into things I could do for my ram lamb with fluke (and bottle jaw).
 
I agree putting ACV in sheeps water would be a waste of time - other than the drench option I guess another option would be to mix it with their concentrate - not sure if the acidity would damage their teeth

Also garlic juice... http://www.garlicbarrier.com/sheep.html.  I think I would do the garlic over the ACV.  I sprinkle garlic granules in my sheep's mineral tub most days thoughout the summer, which they chomp on.  Then they breathe on you...urgh!

Saves on marinating I guess....  
I feed garlic granules to my goats, only a wee scoop per week or so, haven't noticed a taint in the milk but their breath is....
