I dont know whether there is such a thing as a smallholders union but if there is might be a good idea to join now and start agitating ... otherwise farming in the UK will be a thing of the past.

yes this has been floating around for a while now.  Why do you think they wanted to have a licence for all horses and all farm animals, along with a new tax on land, ALL land, and a new tax on ALL agricultural buildings. They really are trying to close down agriculture for some reason.

Believe me Russ, it looks as though they are also hell bent on closing down small pubs/hotels too! They introduced a new Liquor Licence in Scotland that now costs us all thousands of pounds - before it was about £65 so a massive increase there. Their excuse was so they could get greater control over booze sold at the Supermarkets - yeah right, these giants rule the country. They got approval on the new scheme by saying these huge amounts of money would be a one off payment and but as soon as the Act was passed the truth came out. The mega expensive part is a one off but they then added that each year we must pay a "renewal" of £65 or so - so more lies and more taxes paid!
