In the Freezer

Well thats the pork all delivered except the bacon which I will collect next week, think that I may have got it right this year and out of the 5 we reared I have 1 and1/2 in my freezer which have only been labour costs. I dont feel that we have overcharged anyone and all seemed happy to pay £180 for a half pig. I think that worked out at less than £7 a kilo including bacon.
Time now to get the field harrowed and rolled ready for next year although I am surprised by how good it still looks, at no time were they in mud. Definately glad I gave them a bigger area this year.

Anne - just an aside question, which abattoir are you using? We have switched to Shotts, and other than the long journey we have been very pleased with them so far, including their butchery (they have just done 6 wethers for us, not yet collected though)

I sent them to spennymoor, they went with pigs from Reivers Farm Foods which is just about a mile from us, Reivers also butchered them for me, very professionaly done vac packed weighed and labeled for 90p a kilo
