After having a guid laugh after being told you can hear the difference.
Well I been listening to my less than week old ducklings and I cant hear any difference.
Maybe they are all the same sex?!?
Dunno if anybody has heard of shazam? I use it regularly.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shazam_(service)This is how it works
http://www.soyoucode.com/2011/how-does-shazam-recognize-song check out the authours avatar... shhhhpooky
If shazam can recognise a tune ( mostly any tune including different versions and mixes ) why can we use similar technology to sex ducks...
Imagine dialling 2850 on your phone, letting your duckling peep into it and in 20 seconds get a definitive answer!
OK OK im not proposing I can make that happen but....It got me thinking....

I wonder if it is possible to "look" at audio samples of known sexed ducklings with a spectograph on a PC and "seeing" any differences in the audio signature.
Probably nothing but just a thought.
Anyway. I am gonna fire up my sampler, record their peeps and have a look when I get a mo... if might be as easy as overlaying two known results from a sex ducks and noting the differences " visually "
Question for any experts out there is " what peep do you listen too? " Would it be the general i'm content peep or the distressed ( help im lost ) peep?
I probably think too much....
