I have had no phone now since 31st August.  Problem not exchange but BT network.  Job is due to be finished 11th Sept if lucky. It's most annoying as the phone rings but we can't answer it (try telling my 92 year old Mother in Law that as she rings twice a day) and BT haven't bothered to put up a message that it is out of order.
Surprisingly Broadband started working on weekend but MIL & Mum don't have computers ( a major sin these days) and we have no mobile signal here so have been feeling a bit lonely.

Kaz, I know what its like being cut off like that. At least you now have internet access so don't feel so deprived.

We had an electrical storm here that knocked leccy and the phone off here for days, we rang the phone company standing on a hill via mobile and they kept saying our line was fine . It turned out that it was our ADSL boxes( filtery type things that go between the main phone plug and the actual phone) that had blown so we just bought a new one and things were fine. You could still get the internet but not the phone so it may be that.

No definitely not the filters, been done that line before.  When I checked on BT's web site the fault is on BT's network not in the house as they now have little pictures showing where the fault is. It was a bit of a nuisance tracking this fault with no phone as had to drive 2miles up the road to public phonebox nearer than 4miles to mobile signals. At least they promised to re-imburse the days without phone ( we shall see)

Brilliant. Still couldn't do incoming from non-Skypers but at least could call MIL once a day.

Latest update no phone and cannot give any idea as to when will have it.
It is a major problem, as they are having to renew underground cables.
