« on: September 09, 2012, 10:04:55 am »
Hi
My 2 boys go 'off' tomorrow :'( and I am looking for some kune kunes to replace them. I would want at least 2 and possibly 4. I am willing to travel a reasonable distance to get them. Arks ready in a lovely grassy field and a good home waiting with lots of tlc
Thanks

Hi Pauline

Yes, I'd maybe have a couple depending on what you're looking for ?
Pet, pork or breeding ?  ;)

We're down by Glasgow but will be up at the smallholder show (and could maybe bring a couple up for you) or we're up and down fairly regularly at the outlaw in-laws in Aberdeen

Alison Stephen might have some due too - she's in Aberdeen & posts on here as 'The Stephens'

Hi Lynne and Karen
Thanks for your prompt replies. I am looking for pork, but would love to breed in the future too.
Where and when is the smallholder show? I am sure that I can work something out re collecting them.
Somehow our place just won't seem the same if there are not piggies running around. (will be taking a tammworth sow from a friend once the boys go, but she will also need company)
I thought that KKs would be a good breed as my daughter loves helping with the pigs and they won't be quite so intimidating as the big boys :o
Thanks again
Pauline

The smallholder show is at the end of September in Forfar market.

I've got a couple of gilts who'd be good to run on for pork - they've just been weaned this week, so will try to get some good photo's and post them for you tomorrow or later this week.

The show looks fab and I can stay with my daughter in Dundee the night before :excited: I would love to see all the pigs etc. and meet lots of you there :excited:
Karen, if you are happy to keep them for me till end sept, then I could pick them up at the show. What colour are they? Not that it makes a difference, but just curious. How  :excited: :excited: :excited: :excited: :excited: :excited:
Karen can you pm me re cost?
Thanks to both of you!

Hi Pauline
Not sure which litter Karen has in mind, but they are all wee crackers  .  Tommy is cream & depending on the colour of the gilt/sow all his litters are quite a mix - ginger, ginger & black/brown, tri, cream & brown, brown etc.  He doesn't seem to pass-on the piris quite as strongly as my other boar SoS, but produces great underlines - which is more important in the females.
If you're wanting to see some of his older offspring, I'll be bringing 2 of his homebred gilts to Forfar - Primrose, born in March & Daisy, born in January (Qualifier for Young Pig of the Year).
Look forward to seeing you & your daughter there

You & they will be fine tomorrow, honest
I cry  :'(  every time I take ours - but the way I deal with it is that they've had a happy & healthy life, which ends quickly while they well.  It's not an elderly or poorly animal that is suffering or has to be pts.
& of course. they will taste nice too  :yum:
