tamsaddle is correct you would need dozens of pigs to just have one line today that you could call whatever you want with absolute100% proof        and KC says she is a lawyer      it is very important that this claim is sorted out as Mr pig has done    even one person thinking that mystical pigs exist is one to many       to the vast majority this is something about nothing or a triviality   to anybody that cares about pigs there lineage and the pedigree status  it is very very important

it is sad that KC fails to see that she has been duped misled or blinkered in her approach to this situation that is entirely of her own hand

if there is a possible sale people will tell you what you want to hear   pigs are there to be eaten :farmer:

Wow, quite harsh!

I have friends who say there children are so clever, the doctor/ nurse / insert some other profession has agreed this when went for there last check up /appointment.  As a trained teacher, (i had to do something at university) I always wonder on the qualifications as to be able to be a nurse /doctor and someone who can assess the intelligence of a child to the standards of above the normal.

Now do I rubbish the parent, never even though I am possibly qualified to speak.  Parents have a dream there children are the next Albert Einstein or perhaps David Beckham.

I keep pigs I wonder about showing my pigs after all my pigs are the cleverest prettiest pigs in the whole world, but imagine if they came second that would mean I'm not right.

Maybe just maybe people should re read their posts in this thread, someone had a dream about their pig and not just little pointers as to if they are wrong or right but a total kick of the legs with bruises to match to say this is an impossibility.  Would you say to a friends child there an idiot or if I never entered my pigs in a show well you would never have a chance of coming first, I doubt it but the internet does make people brave.

I hope Kitchen posts again, they are a smallholder with a pig and advice should be offered

Apologies for spelling grammar etc but on a phone with autotext on

pig showing from the outside is totally different from what it is in reality       if you have a class of 3 pigs one is judged first one second and the other unfortunately third    all entrants considered there pig to be of first place material   it is the judge that places them in that order   another day another judge   the roles could be reversed

showing is important the best that you can breed are the ones lucky enough to have a long productive life     and perfection is one off the goals

unfortunately there are a great number out there that just don't get the point of all this  :farmer:

never a truer word said different judge different eyes and all.
just as a example we went from one show with a gilt placed reserve breed champion and reserve champion for POY qualifier straight onto the GYS she was placed 4th in her breed class the next day she was in the final 2 traditional females for pig of the year. this year we have recived 2 breed champions 2 reserve BC, 2POY qualifiers and 2 LOY qualifiers lots of 1st but the same pigs have also got 3rd's & 4th's thats what makes sowing fun.

BTW as soon as the perfect pig has been breed they say it will be killed and stuffed for everyone to see and aspire to until then we will all keep trying to get that pig  :trophy:

And then of course there's the judge that is always "facey" unless they place yours first ;)

i would hope if the judge has done the placings correctly that it would be obvious the correct order   the difficulty comes with mixed classes      and i have had it with the Hampshire sheep  if the judge is a beltex or zwartble man these will be placed before the Hampshire's    even worse is the little child showing then the cutsie bit comes before the quality of the animal

not all judges explain there reasons behind  there choice   and at one show a participant was going to rip the judges head off         bring out your best animal     try to show it to its best advantage enjoy the day   and the company    if it wins it wins if it comes tail end charlie  ask afterwards the judges are approachable    well the pig ones anyway

in sheep and cattle it is well know that you present an animal that that judge likes    and as chickenfeed has pointed out  what wins at one may not win at the next show :farmer:

try and bring an animal that conforms to breed standard     berkshires are a good example    to look at superficially they should have six white marks   white mark on face   white tip on tail and four white feet      missing any one is a glaring fault  and would not be placed higher than a perfect marked one   then underline    perfect evenly spaced teats      this does not matter on a breeding gilt or sow    but imperfect ones can produce perfect underlines in there young      good feet and a straight back are next           i have seen berkshires presented at shows with not the right number of white marks       other breeds with Cris's crossed legs    and a list of other faults      but everbody thought they had the perfect pig :farmer:

It's just that Bumblebear typed his? her? comment inside the quotey thing, not after the "[/quote]" end quote thing.  It happens quite a lot, not sure why.

Here's me doing it:

Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing
