Ringworm and pressure washers
« on: August 13, 2012, 04:33:45 pm »
For the first time in 14 years we have ringworm! Everything has been treated but before they come in again we need to pressure wash the barn. No mains electricity so we use a 250v generator, our first pressure washer from Lidls worked well but suddenly fell apart so now we have to get another. Can anyone recommend one that they have used succesfully for more than a little while that will deal with cow muck - we have a wooden barn.
If this is against any forum rules is it ok for people to pm me please?

what you need is a steam cleaner/hot water pressure washer   only thing is the genie will not be powerfull enough to drive it     the wood will need to be treated afterwards :farmer:

Hi Edora, I can recommend a Karcher cold water pressure washer, I hve used them for years (I ran a mobile vehicle valeting service) and they rarely give any trouble, you would do better going for the commercial range rather than the domestic models, they are not the cheapest but have found them reliable. Ours used to be powered by a generator in the back of the van, the supplier will or should be able to tell you if your power source is sufficient. Hope this helps

ringworm is an natural process that cattle can get, don't worry. when young cattle have been mixed with older cattle they will get it and once they had it they won't get again.
