Good year for the rabbits
« on: August 11, 2012, 06:23:33 am »
The rabbit population around us has really increased this year, I guess about 50%
we're happy for the increase as we dont have a garden as such ( more a collection
of weeds ) the other upside is it gives Mr Fox more food instead of our ducks.

Have there been a significant increase in your rabbit population? Or do we just have
very romantic rabbits? :o :innocent:

We've not had a rabbit brought in by Snowball the cat at all this year - I wonder if our ginger boy, Tomsk who got killed a few months back was the rabbit hunter  :(
The vet reckons that the bad flea invasion this year is due to rabbit fleas though so a huge bunny population would explain why the increase in fleas!

Cue a Myxo outbreak in 3... 2... 1... :-\

I'm personally trying to keep the numbers of wildies down a little bit because seeing myxo rips me to bits every time. Tends not to happen if overcrowding can be avoided  :fc:
Last time the bunnies got it here we didn't see one for months and months but now we have loads again. A third of which are jet black
We'll turn the dust to soil,
Turn the rust of hate back into passion.
It's not water into wine
But it's here, and it's happening.
Massive,
but passive.

Bring the peace back

Most of our rabbit burrows are close to the river so everytime we have a lot of rain it almost wipes them out. Needless to say there are very few around just now  :bunny:   :raining:

I'd say it's an average year here. A lot of buzzards about to keep their heads down.

None here, but fox population was massive. Now that the foxes have been cleared out we may see more... I certainly hope so, love to eat em !

We've had a crap year for Rabbits it must have tripelled last year so there was great rewards when we went off lamping but this year there's no point even going  :-\ & I do like Rabbit stew - However we've had quite a few chooks & a duck disappear this week so I think it's time to go hunting mr fox!

Dont have any wild rabbits about my place thankfully, don't want an outbreak of Myxy getting to my Californians!
