Hello, new from the USA. Could not find any forums about hogs anywhere else, just this one, so hope you guys can still help me.
We bought a trio of Vietnamese pigs, one male growing for a roast and the other two for breeding future roasters and to sell. Don't have a truck, trailer nor fork lift, so these smaller pigs are the only ones we can manage. Kunes are pricey here and hard to find, so skipped on them.
I guess I'm wondering about most things to do with pigs. Internet isn't being too helpful.
When should we separate our males from the female, or is it fine to leave them all together full time?
Will she be bred soon after having her litter or will she refuse until later on?
Are there going to be piglets all year long if I don't control when she is bred, more than just two litters a year?
I don't want any Winter piglets, will I have to separate the female once she reaches maturity this year and each Fall through part of Winter?
I believe I read that females mature at 6mo and males at 8mo, correct?
Planing on rotational pasturing with supplemental grain added. Do I need to worm/vaccinate them or will they be fine just living fairly free lives?
Here's a picture of the trio. Pink is the breeding male, black with white marks is female. Other black is the roaster.
