I can understand if folks have been upset by something posted, but why 'leave'?  Just stop posting for a while and go do other things for a bit. That way, if you feel like coming back later, you don't have any explaining to do!!
I guess if you were the retiring or reflective type, that's what you'd do.

If however, you wanted everyone to know how upset, offended etc, you were and how X had 'caused' that and should now be vilified for it, and if you wanted folk to run after you and fuss you and persuade you back - you might 'leave'.

Well, maybe a few of us have felt like we needed a bit of fuss making after we'd allowed ourselves to get upset by something or someone.

And doing it once maybe isn't such a big deal. But too often and the trouble with being a drama queen (I was going to ask if there was a male equivalent, but we don't seem to need one!) is that people get bored with it and 'leave' you to it.

I'm sure this is why animals are so therapeutic. They don't get miffed, they love you regardless of bad hair days, extra pounds round the middle or whatever and they laugh at our jokes  ;D

So do I , Womble, so do I  :D
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing

I've not been on much due to problems in my life, and I started to sign in last week after Annie, who had left me in peace to do my thing for a while, offered to come and help me out, dodged a rather tearful and feeble attempt to put her off coming over, gave me a big hug, listened to a lot of moany drivel about my sorry state, then spent a good hour helping me catch semi feral chickens to spray the baldy bum ones which I hadn't managed alone in all the stress of "not coping with stuff".  She then left to resume her own life, and at least 2 phone calls in that time came in from folk in similar situations to myself tho in different ways - she was helping them all to the best of her ability and that is some ability.. and she also took away my receipts for me to make sense of them for my tax return which I need to do early in order to keep my WTC payments going, pretty much the only money coming in right now ::)

That is what a real friend in need is and does - not try and fix you, tell you what to do, or agree with you no matter what they really think.  I wish I was as good a friend to others and to find she's gone off here now I've just come back because of her actions in my life, that is very sad.

I won't push her to return any more than she pushed me, but believe me I look forward to any day she chooses to come back.  Experience of life and how to deal with stuff is great, the heart that goes with it in some folk, that's something else.

Robert, thanks for the post, my limited experience of you is equally positive   :bouquet: and I look forward to disagreeing with you about something, tho having no pigs I don't know what about  :-J

Annie sounds really kind Ellie. I think very sensitive people can also be very sensitive to other people's needs  :-*
Hope you're beginning to feel a bit more able to cope (I know that one  :-*) and good to see you back here

been off the forum for ages and ages, and only read this thread cos it was from robert and he always has something to say about everything ...lol

ellied, sorry things not so good but looks like they are improving so happy for you.

with regards to folks comings and goings.......

in the 'real' world we choose our circle of friends, and of course, we move on from some of them as we, or they change..

so why is it not 'ok' with our 'virtual' friends i wonder?  there's a degree of anonymity with the internet of course and maybe if we all remember to think before we hit the send button, we'd all be a bit more tolerant of others...just a thought....

having said that, a virtual forum is always going to have people who differ enormously in their opinions, and some who are tactful...and some who arent...... i guess if you dont want to have the replies you dont want...then maybe you shouldnt post in the first place??????

dont know, just my thoughts.....

have a good day everyone, and even if you dont like tennis...send a wee wish for our Scottish player to do well.....

Perhaps using Preview first and then changing the Post button to read "yes I really do mean to publish this to the world"
