The only difference would be if you added Kunekunes or British Lop to your herd (ie. anything that the BPA don't hold the herdbook for).
I don't keep Lop's so can't tell you how their system works, but with Kunekunes you are sent pedigree tags for the pig when you register it on the breeding herdbook.
You'll still have their name, ie: Yonderton Warbler I, II, III, Yonderton Diana I, II, III, Yonderton Elsie I, II or in the case of boars Yonderton Alistair I, etc - so you still have the breed line and sequential number for that on the pedigree, along with the tag number. Your ear tags will have the tag number and your HDL on them...... hope that makes sense ? I get myself confused with it lol!
And yes, being mad certainly helps when it comes to keeping pigs - if you weren't mad when you started you soon will be
