not much better we got him out today so we could clean out his house and give him nice fresh bedding, once he was up he had a long pee, took some water and had a wee wander, its definately his tummy thats sore, vet said to see how he is monday/tues. i think if i can get him up and out he would be better than moping inside, but you know if you are ill you want to pull the duvet over your head!!
see what tomorrow brings.....

Well a bit better today, actually saw him poo this morning, picked them up for investigation and if i had passed by them i would have thought is was a grey/black stones, when you knocked them it sounded like stones and it took a bit of work to get it broken but then just looked like earth, there was little bits of feather!!
Back to see him just now and he finally took a banana (peeled and fed to him!!!) and i found another stone type poo.......keep them coming i say, need to get him some grapes, things are looking better :fc:

My Kunekunes all love melon too and it's got a high water content so will help loosen the dry stool  ;)
Grapes and mangoes are good too - depends on how spoilt they are  :innocent: :D
I'll keep sending reiki to your poor boy  :-*

Pigs do hoover up stones when they're digging and gruffling somewhere on the old spot website there was a case about it. Will try to find link, hate to say outcome was not good, at least if he's starting to pass them its a start may be worth trying some bran and molasses and plenty of fresh fruit if you can as HH said.
Mandy :pig: :fc:
found the bit about stones
We now de stone our fields on a regular basis. As we have stock fencing the stones are used to help keep the fencing near to the ground and deter sows from digging underneath them.
A couple of years ago we had a compliance visit from Defra regarding our single farm payment. The vet was a former pig keeper from east Anglia and one of the things they check on outdoor units is the amount of stones in the paddocks. If excessive then a failure would be recorded and the SFP would be reduced. She told me she had performed pm's on sows with 25kg of stones in their stomachs which had eventually ruptured.

Just a thought. Mandy :pig:

i didnt know that. i remember reading somewhere (defra pig guide?) about levels of stones in paddock, and i presuming it was talking about damaging the feet etc.

yay, he ran to meet me tonight and i rewarded him with some grapes and chopped apple, he ate that so quick i went and got him some pig nuts which were hoovered up, still finding those very hard poos. Tomorrows target is for him to be waiting at the gate for me tomorrow, his reward will be meeting his 8 children who we will move out tomorrow, we wont mention that his son for the 1st litter is off  to Millers tomorrow!
thank you for all your help

If his poo is that hard some caster oil will help soften it.
