Yesterday morning I tripped over in the stable yard.
It all seemed to happen in slow motion. It was pouring with rain (when isn't it) and I caught my toe on a low step. My feet seemed to be paddling in mid air trying to find my footing. I put my hands out to save my face but knowing that I could well break a wrist. I went down hard with both hands and my right knee hitting the concrete.
I was face down but managed to flip myself over and when OH arrived I was lying in a puddle looking like a turned turtle. My heart was racing 19 to the dozen but some how I don't seem to have done any damage. Not even a bruise to show for it this morning.

What a fright though As you say, while everything is in slow motion a milluon horrors flash through your mind. Glad you are okay, but you do know the stiffness usually sets in bu the second day

I strongly recommend ibuprofen washed down with plenty of your choice of alcohol, for the delayed stiffness

Sounds like a close shave Sally; I'm glad you're ok and didn't have to be carted off in a wheelbarrow like Tizaala, by handsome men in uniform

Having had a similar incident involving a pig last year which left me on crutches for a month i'm relieved you're ok, at least you didn't go bum over tit in the pig poo!

BH came off the quad bike on the road last year, same thing - used his arm to protect his head, knowing he was risking injury to the arm. 

Had sore weak arm and grumbled for months.  After lambing  , went to doctor, yes he'd fractured a small bone in his wrist and it was now too late to do anything about it.    So it's healed now but will never be as good as it was - or as it would have been if he'd had it seen to in the first place. 

So, Sally - if there's stiffness that persists beyond a couple of days... get it looked at!  (:wagging finger: icon required.)
