Collafirth Rowan

This is Collafirth Rowan. She's a Shetland, almost 17 years old, and is shown here with her 14th calf, a bull by Lyndthorpe Raymond. The calf is, as yet, un-named.

Rowan is our Annie's grandmother, being the mother of Collafirth Viking. Funnily enough, the markings on the bull calf aren't dissimilar to Annie's.

Not bad for 17, though - she sure doesn't owe anyone anything.

I have no idea of the average age of a cow   ??? She may not be young but she looks in fab condition and producing a  lovely healthy calf with it .

Doesn't she look proud of him

Great little bull calf - check out his markings - he seems to have 2 hearts on his flank.

We used Viking last year too - so we have 5 calves whose Grandma is the lovely Rowan. Viking was a busy boy last year & we're going to let him loose on 9 'ladies' next week after we've collected him from his owner.
