Stitches out
« on: June 26, 2012, 06:56:11 pm »
Stitches out   manky half slab plaster came off today with complaints of
'You've been walking on this '.
'Yes nurse , thats because the missus can't carry me to the car.'
consultant summond to plaster room, all ok , stitches out, weight bearing plaster ,' NOT A WALKING plaster.'
'Can I see my x-rays please'
'I don't see why not ' Says he , and then he showed me how he rebuilt my ankle, with the before and after shots, 5 inch metal strap and 6 screws, with another going through the head of the fibula holding it together where it sheared off. That all stays in now so I can play with the metal detectors at airports. :-J
So now I'm sporting a nice royal blue plaster with a canvas boot (made in china for gods sake).
back again in 4 weeks for a walking foot. :fc:

Gosh, that sounds like a bad break from something so simple.  And remember it is not a walking plaster.

fyi when I had all my metal work in, one down the left tib and fib and one in the right thigh and through the pelvis, it didn't start of the metal detectors at the airport. Mind you that was 27 years ago and things are more sophisticated now

Oh dear Sally - is that how long it's been since you had a holiday?

Another 8.5 weeks to go, just enough time for me ro plan a nice exotic holiday - as soon as your foot is better it is MY turn. Some weeks in the Maledives while you run everything here sounds like a fair exchange.
