Met anybody famous ?

It's a small world really, who have you met who has
a claim to fame ?

I've played pool with Willie Thorn ( years ago,)
and I shook Maggie Thatchers hand once in a queue.

What about you ?

Went to a party that Prince Harry and Dan and Jon Snow were at.

Went to another party this weekend (this time children's party!), that Carl from Emmerdale (I didn't know either!) was at as his son goes to the same school as my friends son and they are good friends.

Not that I actually met any of these people!

Simon McBurney (the mad choirmaster in Vicar of Dibley) had a holiday cottage next door to us in the wilds of Scotland...used to go picking mushrooms and bring them to me to cook for him. Didn't even know he was famous until he let slip that he did a bit of acting.

I used to be a community midwife in Wilmslow so had lots of footballers wives and cast from Coronation street. Half the BBC is moveing into our village now that they are in Salford but the best has to be at Henbury Horse trials. This older gentleman was walking towards me and I thought I know him. As he came level with me he smiled and said hello. I said hello and carried on walking. 25 yards further on I though O yes thats Prince Phillip!

I once told Omar Sharif that only boring people played bridge (then discovered that he's an internationally renowned contract bridge player) and I've had a smoochy kiss with Jean Jaques Burnell (bassist with the Stranglers)

Adam Hensen the farmer (is he famous?) I've met him at Moreton show.  I used to periodically look after Jane Seymour's mum and 'Jane' used to phone the ward to ask how her mum was. Little and Large came to visit our patients one Christmas and none of them knew who they were!
I used to know John Barnes, David James and Luther Blisset the Footballers when we lived near Watford and used to dog sit for them on a Saturday  ;D
Oh and Mick Tucker, the drummer from 'The Sweet'  was a good friend of my dads and we used to meet in the local pub every weekend, his daughter and I would sit and do colouring while Dad and Mick talked glam rock. RIP lovely Mick  :bouquet:
Hubby met Princess Diana and Elton John while he was working on the HIV/AIDs unit at St Mary's, Paddington. He always blows my celeb's list out of the water with those 2  ;D

As i am an older person  ;D i will own up to meeting the following

Harold Wilson = i was 11
The late Duchess of Argyle, she was patron of the Bleakholt animal sanctuary where i was a volunteer aged 12 - the lady had a racy reputation but she was lovely to us
Dave Lee Travis - he kissed me! (on the cheek) i had won the local youth club table tennis championship - he presented the prizes i was 14
Princess Anne - i was connected with Riding for the Disabled

and the best of all David Beckham gave me a lift several times when he was a young player for Manchester United -( i worked with his then girlfriend) he was 18

also

i have knocked Ryan Giggs flat when  running for a bus in Manchester and the totally gorgeous Eric Cantona told me not to worry (outside the Piccadily Hotel, Manchester)

I met Pricess Di twice. The first time I showed her a condom expanding and contracting with accompanying sound track !! Snoring. It took her a few minutes to twig it was a condom then she gave her cow eyed embarrassed look. I am pretty sure that I was the first man to show her a condom - as she was not long a princess.
And I have the pictures !!
her ex-mother in law and I often laugh about it.  ;D

Have given first aid to Theo Walcott's scuffed knees from footballing accidents during his school years.  Such a lovely mild mannered boy.

I had the following conversation:
Noddy Holder : Show us your tits.
   Me : F&%k off!
Noddy Holder : F&%k off then.

I sat next to Giles Brandreth at a dinner.  That conversation was rather more stimulating.

My dog was in Doctor Who - the episode with the original 4 doctors in it.  Sadly I wasn't with him at the time.  In fact, that dog used to get about, his list of celeb encounters would be much longer and more impressive than mine.

I've been in a lift with Patrick Troughton (I didn't mention that he'd met my dog - it would've been embarrassing, the dog had clearly preferred Tom Baker.)

Other encounters include being in a train carriage with Jackie Charlton and with Jennifer Saunders (not at the same time), in a queue in Woollies behind Anton Rogers, saw Victoria Wood putting petrol in her car on the M1, used to buy my veg in the same shop as John Thaw and saw him now and again, also saw Sheila Hancock pushing her granddaughter (I think it was) in a pushchair.

I could list some others but you'd have to be in your late 50's or 60's and have been into folk music in the 70's.  (Yes Annie, I remember Tommy Steele - I was thinking about Half a Sixpence recently, trying to come up with a name for Sixpence's first calf!)

Oh, and I was at Uni with Guy jenkin (comedy scriptwriter - co-wrote Drop the Dead Donkey with Andy Hamilton, amongst other things.)
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing
