hello i guess :)
« on: May 07, 2012, 09:56:52 pm »

 Hey I am Hippy.
I hope to start a small holding in the next 2 to 2.5 years and am trying to learn as much as i can before then. The first part of the plan is self build a family home and I would be very interested in any ones experiance at choosing land and dealing with planners ect. It is my understanding that getting planning can be extremly difficult so any advice or pointers on where to look for advice would be great. I also intend to make the house as "green" as possible, so am looking for advice on heating systems, hot water systems, grey water systems, air filtration systems, wood boilers/stoves, ground source pumps ect. I would also love to hear others experiances of any of these areas (forwarned is forarmed) I have a few ideas already but am not going to rush into this (for once in my life).
thanks for reading and any input will be appreciated.
h

Hello and welcome from sunny Carnoustie

Have a look at the renewables topic. We have a GSHP and a 4kW array of PV cells but I have no idea how they work. Underfloor heating is the best thing in the world though
