Hello every one, I was just pondering over my next move really and thought it would be a good to get a couple of other opinions.
We are working a small field for the first time this year, and my intended potato and carrot patch has proven to be worse than I had imagined! It's clay anyway but it's full of stones and bricks. I had worked that out from when I rotovated (i had by now already abandoned the carrots idea!!) it about two months ago. So this morning was going to be the planting day (I know it's late but work and rain have forced the outcome this way!) but the clay has already compacted it's self from then so much So I'm wondering wether or not bother with potatoes and try and plant some fodder crop for the sheep to have in the winter or just plant them any way and hope for some food for my efforts?
Can any one suggest a good fodder crop for my needs or a veg that might store well and keep me fed through the winter that could work?

id get a main crop spud in to help break up the clay, but i couldnt comment about animal feed crops.
