I tried doing my own once.  And only once!  Very labour intensive.  Sorry that's not much help.

YES!!!!! I sold all my needlefelying machines and wet felting machines to The Natural Fibre Co at Launceston. Give them a phone and say Val Grainger sent you and they can take your fleeces from strainght off the sheep onto long rolls of felt to your specification.

Sorry I no longer have the facilities to do this as when I had Woolly Shepherd this is one of the things we did but since I sold it in 3 parts the Woolly Shepherd business that exists now only does a fraction of what we used to do. :)

Thanks for the replies, think I will investigate the cost of having some fleeces prepared.   Also would you know where small quantities of naturally coloured carded fleece could be purchased from please?  We used to have a felt mill locally, Moral Fibre, but sadly it seems to have closed down now.

I bought the machinery from Moral Fibre and it went with the other mill machinery to NFC when I stopped. Now NFC had one of my big wet felt tables and Norweft had the other one (01352 720382  email berryenterprising@supanet.com) You can purchase carded fibres from John Arbon or NFC or plenty of other places!
