Yes, it is a partnership. A well trained dog goes where it is sent. It is the responsibility of its master to use judgement and commonsense as to where it is reasonably safe and fair to ask a dog to go. That is part of your role in that partnership.

One of my spaniels would have been in there, with me on the shore yelling franticly at her to come back and her going selectively deaf!

Ahhhhh ...... but they probably cant hear you when they are sea swimming ..... sound of waves and all that.

Thats the excuse my Flattie uses anyway  ;D
