Hello from Derbyshire!
« on: April 10, 2009, 09:50:44 pm »
Hello

I have been reading this forum for a while, but have only just started posting on it and thought I should introduce myself.  I have 1 husband, 2 sons (6&5), 2 dogs, 1 cat, 20 chickens (Black Rocks, Cream Legbar, Speckledy, White Leghorn, 8 ex-batts and 1 Maran Cockeral called Gordon given to us as a stray!), and 2 donkeys which are off to pastures new on Tuesday.  I also have a veg patch and small orchard with mainly Damsons that make fab Damson Gin!

I have a 1 3/4 field and am wanting to buy 2 weaners for fattening either Gloucester Old Spots or British Saddleback which ever are available the soonest and the most local.

Very pleased to have found this website and think I'll be returning again and again for advice and gossip! :D

Welcome, you'll make lots of friends on here.  Why not put yourself on the members map.  Some people don't bother but it's good to see where everyone is.

I can't find any GOS for sale locally!  It looks like its going to have to be British Saddlesbacks.  Personally, I'm happy either way!  I'm so excited and nervous about our preparation, making sure that everything is perfect for them before they arrive.  I keep waking OH in the night with different thoughts spinning through my head!!

i bought my first gos from a really great family near ashbourne. i got the link from the gos breeders site. try the map on the gos site, it might just show someone within range who is just about to sell some weaners. though there i always next time.. trust me once you've had a couple, you'll get more.
