computer software for record keeping

Does anyone use shareware or other free or cheap software for recording flock details?
I've been looking for an iphone, ipad or computer method of recording who's who in the flock
i could create an excel sheet - jus thought someone else might have done something fancy ahead of me
ANy ideas?

Microsoft Excel is the only software that comes to mind. Just remember to keep backups and print it all out as well, as if you get inspected it's most likely a paper copy they will want to see along with everything else.

I would think Excel is as easy to set up as anything, and free!

Never thought of that, that's another job for tomorrow  ::)

Following link hopefully takes you to Defra's link for an excel spreadsheet. All set up ready to go, bit of patience as the macro instructions etc take a bit of playing with. Have just set up for us to use, did however print out for paper copy also.

there is a birth records app for the Iphone - haven't really used it but I do use it for predicting due dates. I'd get the name of it but I can't find my phone  :-\ :-\

there is one on   http://fiascofarm.com/   for predicting dates, it's american but I use it to confirm what I think :-)

Excel is the way to go - especially with that template available. ;D
