Market sticks
« on: April 08, 2012, 05:54:52 pm »
Does anyone one here make these?
In case it's a regional thing, I'm after a 'mini' crook as I'm on some new crazy pills and they seem to make me a bit wibbly. I hate the Idea off using a stick, but a market stick is a useful piece of kit that I can lean on if I need to!

If anyone does make them, or have one they want to sell, could you please get in touch?
Sale or barter, either or suits me. If barter have a think about what you would like in return ;D

Thankies

(on the plus side, the new 5-htp pills are fantastic! Natural and I can really feel the benefit already after only a few days. If you have head issues, google it! :-*)

I found a brilliant one in the forest but dare not lean on it in case its not strong enough but it is good for pocking things ::)!!! I did have a walking pole but I get arthritis in my hands and cramp if I hold anything too long  ::) I mean for any length of time :-[   Interesting that my tablets for Arthritis in my spine made me very depressed and that's not a normal thing for me, gave them up and all is great now on strong pain killers..depression is horrid so I do sympathise, thankfully not a sufferer other than when I took the medication!!!!

Here you go ditw, like this but no fancy stuff!
The last one I had was beautiful, a hazel staff with a holly crook bit on the top.
They are basically short crooks ;)

Hi Colliewoman
Are any of these any good to you? I really won't be offended if there not ;D. I made them last year in my stick classes. I would love to barter for chickens or ducks (if you have any) but the distance makes that impractical. So sorry to say I'm looking for £75 +postage each.

This one is Buffalo horn on chestnut shaft 551/2 inches high

This is Ram horn on Ash shaft 4ft high ( the purple blob  on the shaft is a butterfly)

This one is African rosewood on chestnut shaft 56 inches high

If they are to high you can cut bits off the bottom. The first two I ever made I cut over a foot off the end of them so my grandparents could use them as proper walking sticks.

Oh my!
I LOVE the one with the butterfly!
Could you hang on for a few days til I check what is spendable at the mo?
Shame you are so far away as I am knee deep in chickens!
