I lost a very good pedigree Llyen ewe yesterday, but managed to save one of her lambs.

The fallen stock company came to collect her for the rendering plant.

Cost £19.80 with the VAT.

So I lost the ewe the vat and the fat

We have got the lamb in the study in a dog cage and on the bottle. Mother in law came this morning and said. OMG what about all the mess.

I said 'no worries the lamb will soon get used to it'

ha ha, takes me back a year - my sister said exactly the same, and I think my reply was similar. My family should be used to me by now. Sorry you lost the ewe, especially the cost. Hope the lamb grows on well.

I think most people who keep sheep end up with a lamb in the house at some stage, hope all goes well for you both!!

So I'm not the only one who has had the emergency idea of placing a lamb into a large dog cage. I got some weird looks tho.

The dog cage as been used for all sorts of animals since the dog outgrew it. Invaluable.

Yes - we've kept our dog cage now he's grown out of it.

We'll be picking up our weaners in it on Sunday

Sorry about your ewe Castle Farm I hope the lamb make's it and is a perfect one for you. Crates, perfect for transporting ducks and also to take the male kids to the vet to get their bits chopped - couldn't manage without mine - in fact could do with 2

The lamb is up and feeding really well and I had another 2 sets of twins today, so my ram lambs I bred last year were working well.

I have a farmer friend who I went to see yesterday. He has about 130 lambs, mainly triplet and quad lambs in a shed on a feeding system. It cost a bit to set it all up but it seems to work really well.

The box warms the milk and the lambs just help themselves on multy teats.

Sorry you lost your ewe, I know the feeling - I lost two pedigree ewe lambs and a Herdwick this year at several hundred pounds loss (plus vets fees and removal cost!) - it can mount up a fair bit, my worst year so far!

Lol @ sheep in the house, I raised an orphan last year who used to follow me into the kitchen while I prepared her milk. She would have been quite happy to stay there

I do have a large dog crate which may come in useful this year!

I have two! but one is still used by the dog. She gets booted out for the day when we need it for weaners... Mine are used most of the time for bringing goat kids to the vet for disbudding....
