I watched that. Cant be certain but I seem to remember that he first showed some of his pure breeds, think it was Buff Orpingtons and the little lilac ones I seem to remember were lavender peekins. I was watching it late at night with a glass of red wine so I dont mind being corrected!!!!

Think he talked about the pure breeds falling out of fashion because they didnt lay as many eggs as modern hybrids. He then went to collect some hybrids bred to produce coloured eggs.... dark brown, blue and white. Cant remember if he said what these hybrids were called ..... I didnt recognise them as any of the hybrids that I know. Think they might just have been developed because the breeder said that it was a secret which hens had been used to develop the blue egg layer.
We have a pair of lavender peekins. They are lovely little birds but dont lay blue eggs. The eggs are small and creamish in colour. Peekins are not known as prolific layers though I have some pure peekins which are mixed colours and they lay their little socks off!
