spoiling

My OSB'S are 11 weeks old and up to now I've been shutting them in their shed at night, is it about time I was leaving it open all the time or are they still too young.
Regarding feed, I first bought a high nutrient feed which they gobble down but it has got gm grain in it, since then I've got an organic feed which is a bigger pellet but their not so keen on this, is it likely to be the size of the pellet or are they just fussy eaters, I thought they ate anything. Is it possible I'm spoiling my pigs?

Another topic on here suggests mixing the two foods until they get used to the new one then gradually increase the new feed until that's all they get.
I tried this with distillers grain, which was what the other topic was about, mine will not be fooled. Any pelleted feed they went for quite happily. Check what it says on the feed bag to see that it's right for your age of pig.

With regards to shutting them away, i wouldnt bother.. they will decide when its time to get up and go to bed. The more time they are allowed out to dig and forage the quicker they will grow and they will have less time to get fat!

How much feed are giving them in one sitting?

Can you try mixing the new feed with some chopped veg or even better apples and or bananas.

I was mixing the two pellets with added fruit and veg and they still manage to seperate it out, I'll keep trying. If I just give them the larger pellet they look at me as if I'm feeding them poison. the weather is getting better up here in north yorkshire so I'll leave their door open. thanks

Is there a difference in the ingredient make up of the two feeds? I had tried including some distillers in my pigs feed, but they didn't like it so I stopped. The problem might just be palletability, there might be somthing strong tasting in the feed that they just don't like, you might just have to shop around for a different blend.
