Normally I feed a grain mix that I buy in ton bags but the pens have been muddy since christmas so I used pellets, less wasteful. I'm now going back to grain but have hundreds of feed bags.

What do people do with them?

I use them as heavy rubbish bags (we're still clearing out old sheds though

) I've also grown potatoes in them, just roll the tops down and unroll and fill with soil as the haulms grow. I'm sure they have more uses though - than my limited ones

I've seen them used as roofs on chickn houses and very basic pig shelters (pallets for sides, chicken wire and plastic bag roof) Failing all that, try your local recycling place

plastic is quite a good price recycled
45 years ago they made a heat sealing iron for plastic bags to be made into sheets or tarpaulins

plastic or paper sacks ? ours comes in paper sacks some get used for storing potatoes and a local guy has a few from us the plastic sack the beet nuts come in come in use for FYM for the local gardeners.

I use mine as rubbish bags too ....also good for kneeling on to clean out the smaller chicken house.

if they r plastic - rubbish bags, especially for heavy/sharp things that we find on the farm..
also good for selling manure in.
paper ones are useless.

paper ones I give to the pigs or goats to "play" with ... then when they are chewed/ripped/soggy they go on the compost or as incinerator fuel.
Plastic - as rubbish bags, kneelers, or replacements for damaged paper ones!

Plastic ones for rubbish. Paper ones on the compost heap or use as mulch in the polytunnel.

We use our plastic bags mainly for 'burnable' rubbish. OH sometimes relieves me of a load when he has a building job on that's not big enuff for a skip so all the debris/rubble goes in bags and is taken to the tip or brought home to fill holes in the drive. I also use them for taking paper for recycling(no recycling services from council here too rural! despite paying £2k a yr rates! they empty the domestic refuse fortnightly) OH splits them to use as gun cleaning mats, machinery pulling to bits mats, etc.
We used to have paper feed bags and they were burnt or composted.

Great for putting dog & fox poop in while I have still failed to sort out a dog poop compost bin.
But most of them get used as general farm rubbish bags.
