At the moment posts in the coffee lounge aren't included in your post count. We did this a long time ago to try to encourage and reward participation in the smallholding boards.

It worked, so we've never reversed the setting, but we've also failed spectacularly to make anyone aware of it.

We'll amend the welcome email to mention this, apologies it's not very obvious at the moment.  :-\

Not sure why the coffee lounge needs to be less importand than the smallholding one? Many a frustrated smallholder (or big holder) lets off steam in the coffee lounge!!!!!

Also we have a number of people on here who are not able to contribute to the likes of pigs, sheep etc so unlikely to build up numbers, but to be honest I never look at my post count so haven't a clue what it does.  I don't suppose anyone of you would class me or Sandy as smallholders since we just have gardens and chickens (and ducks of course)  but is this not the 'accidental smallholder' forum - I think I could be classed as accidental  ;) ;D
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

The reason for the change away in the mists of time was because contributors to a word association game thread in the coffee lounge were moving through the member groups in no time at all, while others who only posted in a single livestock board but provided very valuable advice and help were not being recognised, and that didn't seem fair. It is first and foremost a smallholding forum, and we need to recognise that not all posts have equal value to other members.

I've got some work to do on the member groups to try to make them a bit more meaningful - from what I can tell a lot of members don't care/know about them, and there are better systems based on other factors. Just need to make the time to sort it!  :D

I know a lot of people read and do not post, a bit like a magazine, I know a lot of my friends and relations on FB do not comment but when I see or talk to them via the phone they tell me so much that I have written.

I do not even look at the amount of posts others put, to me thats like seeing how many cups of tea people have in a day, those that need more tea and those that ...? now I am rambling and am talking now instead of making some tea!!!!!  ;)

for what it is worth i think every post should count or shelve the post count, seems strange that some count and some don't.  ???
