Well today was pick up day for the bacon, couldn't believe my ears the butcher was saying it was some of the best bacon he had made, and his wife said it was the best she had put through the slicer as it was very firm.Had some for tea tonight and it was really nice, from a 32kg side of pork i got 7kg of sausage, and 20kg of middle bacon, gammon and bacon joints, the butcher charged £1.10 per kg

Well done , it is great to get a compliment from an expert. The man who shears my sheep and is one of the top Shetland sheep men said that my flock, are some of the best he has seen.

Great stuff - do you think it was the diet you gave the pig? Any tips as we all aim at what you have achieved ?
Would like to hear if you bought in food or gave the pig your own fruit and veg and maybe a compliment flour or something.

So did you pay the butcher £35 for half a pig?
