I just saw...
« on: March 07, 2012, 08:48:15 pm »
On my way back home from the goats, a friend and I both just saw a black cat the size of my collie bitch slink (the only way to describe it) across the lane and slip into the hedgerow :o :o
If I had been on my own I may have doubted what we saw, but we each saw it and looked at each other gobsmacked!
I hope it doesn't want my goats or sheep :(
It was a fair way away from them, so fingers crossed .

When we lived in Cornwall there were many reported sightings of large black cats - the size of panthers - recorded around us. But, people scoffed after hearing about the Beast of Bodmin......................
A pessimist sees only the dark side of the clouds, and mopes; a philosopher sees both sides, and shrugs; an optimist doesn't see the clouds at all - he's walking on them.  ~Leonard Louis Levinson

There seem to be a lot of sightings of big cats down South,
but up here in Scotland, the reports never conclude as to
any harm done to animals by big cats.
Maybe the foxes take the blame.  :-\

We have one wondering around here in Huntingdonshire, I've seen it a few times so have several of my neighbors.  It doesn't run off when it sees you either it's very relaxed!

I know, I don't want to let the dogs out for their last piddle just in case! It's not like there is anything to scare it off, we live in a field :o as the crow flies where I saw it is about 500 yards from my static  :-\

There are reportedly panthers living wild in the UK but no-one knows who released them  .Dont worry they are terribly shy by all accounts and I am sure they will just run away.

there was another thread about this fairly recently, i put up a link to identify the tracks left, it might be worth seeing if you can find a good clear pawprint. this was how i identified the cat here.

There are often sightings, I remember the last postings about them...wish I could remember one guests sighting as he was going to work and fell off his bike as one went in front of his bike and he thought he was a gonner...i think they generally keep well out of the way and not sure about when they die, there are many wild animals and I cannot say I come across too many of their remains either....they possible dig themselves a hole and die and then they get eaten quickly and rot of course....I would imagine there is a very high possibility there are wild cats, people used to keep them as pets but when laws came in the got rid of them and also possibly got fed up with them!!!!!! It would be great to capture one on film but know one would believe that either ::)
