Chuffed to bubbles!
« on: March 06, 2012, 08:23:53 pm »
Got chatting today with 'man from the big posh house up the road' for the first time today. He has about an acre and a half split into 2 with the brook running through it. So after saying hi, I asked if he'd like a few sheep to graze it down for him, well you would ask that in the first conversation wouldn't you?
He asked if I could put them in tomorrow and if we would like to go round for tea ;D ;D
AND the land has never (in my memory) had stock on it! It's always just been topped/mown. AND it's on the way to my goats ;D ;D ;D ;D
I told him I loved him
We'll turn the dust to soil,
Turn the rust of hate back into passion.
It's not water into wine
But it's here, and it's happening.
Massive,
but passive.

Good for you! And good for him too. People in 'the big hoose' are always thought of as being rich, selfish, lazy grabbing etc etc, which is rarely the case in my experience. Communication and good relationships between estates and locals are hugely beneficial to everyone. A case in point.... one nearby one big hoose has opened their walled garden to the villagers to use as allotments. Just because two people had a chat. So, well done!  :)

That's how it started with us. We let a local chap graze his sheep in our fields. He then got ill and couldn't do it anymore and we thought 'we need couple of sheep just to keep the grass down'. Two years on and we've now got 16  ::) :D
