worming dosage for goats
« on: March 05, 2012, 12:03:28 pm »
sorry if this topic has been covered but i have tried searching and not found out the answer and the vets are taking forever to call back...
what dosage should i be giving my goats i have read its somewhere between 1.5 and 1.8 times more than the stated sheep dosage, but which is it 1.5 or 1.8 i dont want to underdose and certainly not over dose the sheep reccomendation is 8mls for one and 10mls i have two girls to do the first is 36.74kg and the other is 49.89kg.
hope this makes sense and thanks for any advice

Combinex is a Levamisole, and the goat dose should NOT exceed 1.5 times sheep dose, (12mg/kg body weight) It is toxic in goats at doses approaching 20mg/kg body weight. Do not use injectable, but the oral one and do not use in the last 3 weeks of pregnancy (quoted from Matthews, Diseases of the goat).

Hope this helps.
