« on: March 03, 2012, 10:14:03 pm »
Yahoo! New runner ducks produced there first egg!
Boo hoo! Poor little Pekin hen dies of what I can only figure out to be sudden death syndrome.
What a day.

Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

Something killed one of our Rhodie cockerels today. Found it half eaten in the middle of the field. Quite pissed off too.

"Quite pissed off" that is the emotion Im feeling! What was the killer of your RIR in the end? I  noticed some fox s**t by my poultry pens this morning (not related to my Pekin's death) so some pest control is going to be employed tomorrow!

:'(Oh how I feel for you all :'(
Lived here for 16 years and people in my street have told me how sorry they were to have heard of my sad loss.
My next door neighbour had passed on the message, and suddenly people approach me in the street that I have never spoken to before in all those years (allthough they are neighbours, I live in a "each one to their own" neighbourhood) :-\ Well, that might change now

Not sure what killed him. No signs of a fox and all the other birds were going about their business like normal despite the presence of a mutilated carcass in the field that had obviously come to an unpleasant end. The dead cock had a lot of feathers ripped off but no obvious damage to the body except the gut cavity was ripped open and the innards half eaten. We're wondering if it was maybe a buzzard there have been a lot of them about lately.
