I thought I would share my lovely evening with you all (I know you guys won't roll your eyes and think me crazy).

I was mucking out my horse this evening (dusk), when our little kittens came to join me (thank you. Collie woman). They were bounding about in the fresh straw. Then came in my dogs. Kittens enjoyed pouncing and chasing the jrt. Then came the two goats! So, in the south facing 14 x 14 stable I had 2 kittens, 2 dogs and 2 goats ;D (noahs ark). I just plonked my self down and enjoyed the pack/herd and their happiness and joy and cuddles, whilst the pink sky turned dark . only thing missing was the horse, but don't trust his feet around kittens :hshoe:

evenings like tonight make the cold, wet, muddy times worth it.

Love the animals

yes it's great when we have jobs that have to be done but the animals make us smile - that's what it's all about - well it is for me

It sounds lovely. I must admit my fave job is taking the hay out to the sheep, they are so appreciative and get it all over their face as well as in their mouth - you can tell the greediest ones from the Wurzel Gummidge quota of hay hair!

Aww, its so nice when you get those moments of complete - completeness and companionship.

Its so easy to just think about the grind of looking after them sometimes - feeling some appreciation and love from animals makes it all worthwhile, I just wish they would help a little more instead of thinking - awe nice new bedding and some food, I'll crap, wee and walk in that right now ;)

While all the sheep are bucket trained and come over at the rattle of a bucket one of the ewes will always approach, food or not, for a cuddle.  She adores having her back massaged - arches her head up and sticks her tongue out while wagging her tail.  A couple of the others like a rub - we always do that while feeding them to look for problems in the fleece - by Lil clearly loves the whole experience.

Makes it  a lot less like work.

 ;D ;D ;D
They are officially the cutest kittehs EVER :cat: :cat:
So glad you are pleased with them, my friends are chuffed to bits that they have got such a nice home. The perfect mix I think, friendly sociable and used to living outside!
I do miss squishing them though

I love it when I'm cleaning the goat yard and my lovely Flo comes over and rubs her head against me.  she loves a cuddle as well.

Not so keen when Curry sneaks round behind me and butts the backs of my legs hard.

Is curry a goatling?  My goatling is on top form at the moment. She is a full blown teenager ::)

Curry is an 8 month old pest kid but at least the bad behaviour will make it easier to turn him into curry when the time comes.   ;D

One of my favourite moments of the day is when I put the boys to bed. As soon as I put their biscuits down, their heads dive into the bowl, so I get the opportunity to give them both a huge cuddle. I then sort out their water and their hay, then I spend a few minutes telling them the weather forecast for the following day, and telling them whether it will be nice enough weather for them to be let out of their pen to roam free. I tell them any news I may have, then tell them I love them (honestly, I really do tell them that!), say night night, then shut the door.

Every night I say "night night see you in the morning" if I say it - it will have to come true!!

I say exactly that to my dogs every night too.  ;D And if I forget I remember when I am in bed then have to go back and say it. ::)  It's either superstition or OCD, not sure which! ;D ;D ;D
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age
