Nearly Valentines Day
« on: February 06, 2012, 08:18:34 pm »
Just about a week to go!

Even though I'm on the ball , (the date's not passed me by yet)
The dilemma remains - do I go for practical, or romantic?

A sheep or a perfume - book or a buck...goats could be kidding - maybe a sleeping bag..?

Any help out there!!

I have no problem asking for things I actually need - OH has bought me a chainsaw for christmas in the past, mother-in-law asked what I wanted for last birthday - Moorit lamb friend for the one I bought at auction, drills, passlope gun, new saw, box of screw all good useful stuff - although I don't think I'm that normal!! Dark chocolate is pretty nice too.....

If there is one time for something romantic its Valentines day. Having said that my OH wouldn't agree. He thinks its just advertising hype. Having said that he had better buy me a card or there will be trouble  ;D  ;D

Both of my very dear and much missed husbands were very romantic - and as I am equally romantic I loved the red roses, even though they never lasted very long, the huge box of chocolates - they never lasted long either,  ;D ;D ;D and the beautiful over sized cards - I still have a number of them in a  drawer somewhere.  I take them out and shed  a little tear at this time of year, not of sadness, but for the happiness I was blessed with all those years.

Should presents be a part of Valentine's Day :-\ I set no store by it, it's just another hyped-up plot to part gullible people from their money. A home-made card if you like or a chocolate heart in the old man's dinner bag, but expensive presents? No!
Or maybe I'm an unromantic saddo ::)

Sorry, but this just passes me by - and my OH.  Flowers, and cards seem way overpriced for this "event" - as do restaurant and pub meals!!!  I do like chocolates, but having them, or any other present for Valentines day is not for me.

We got married on 2nd March so Valentines day is about 2 weeks before - it means all the lovey dovey stuff is marked down in the shops ready for anniversary pressies - result! It also meant that we could buy lots of heart shaped things for our wedding reception very low price (although I didn't make it to the reception myself, long story)

This year is 10 years married - were meant to be staying in a gypsy caravan in the black mountains but I've offered to take orphan lambs in from a local farmer so we're now on standby for that anytime now! oops!!

A GP I new, who was about 32, bought his 20 year old receptionist ( his mistress)  an ironing board for Valentines day. I could not keep such a bad present a secret and all I told were gob smacked that she stayed with him for another six months before the Valentines present was used as the reason for her giving up on him.
I always give chocolates AND flowers - always a safe bet.
