I'm getting a new puppy
« on: February 06, 2012, 04:46:47 pm »
Well I'm finally getting my new Golden Retriever dog puppy. Have been looking for ages for one that is just right.
Mums scores 8 & Dads 11 and excellant bloodlines.
When the pup is  old enough and has been hip, elbow & eye tested  and is good enough (or he'lI be sniped) I will be using him with my lovely Goldie bitch who is now one and due to have all her hips & elbows scored next week.

Any idea for a name. Something unusual would be lovely.

Lovely, we are all pupped up at the mo 9 pups and also 4 adult dogs..I always name mine from Lord of the RIngs, placed on the map or charactors, some nice not so unusual now names, one of our big black male pups from last year has a kennel and pet name of Saramun and a pretty little girl from the same litter Lyra...we also have names like Gandolf, Evenstar, Rivendell, Mordor, Rohan etc etc....if you have a fave film, book or place why not give your dog that special name...!!!

That's Riley out, as it is more usual than unusual.

I'll have to put my thinking cap on as I will need to get him a dog disc soon. He isn't microchipped yet so will have that done along with his vaccinations as soon as possible.

Do NOT put his name on his disc!!!!!!  If he gets lost and someone grabs his colalr sees his name they can then reassure him and persuade him to go with them more easily.  Your surname, address and post code, (by law) and vets phone number are all that are needed.  I usually add the words 'I am chipped'

I usually try for a pun - what's your bitch called?  Where is the dog coming from (address / name of people / prefix)?  What are his mum and dad called?  Any other related facts that I could work with?  :D
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing
