The sort of day I like, bright, crisp and sunny. Lovely fresh feeling. Walked along the beach with the dog and appreciated how lucky I was to be able to do it. I take a lady paralysed from the neck down, following a riding accident, to Holland every few weeks for treatment and it certainly makes you appreciate all the little things in life we take for granted and puts your own aches and pains into perspective. Just to brush her own teeth or pick her own book up she would love to do, let alone be free to enjoy the beautiful day it was today. I still find it hard to get my head around how one day she was just like us, messing around with animals totally independant and then one trip and its a life of total dependency. So yes to sum up it was a beautiful day and I did appreciate it and all that I could do.

I thought it was mild and good walkies weather and my hubby is off so spent the morning moving logs around :o....mind you, every time I passed the window I saw things he missed.....first, the Hens were enjoying our flower beds as he left the gate open to their bit......then....the dogs were in the main garden, now that's fine if you keep an eye on them but he didn't and from the landing window I saw Ben chewing away on some pretty decorative driftwood, Rhoan digging away in a large wooden planter and Rhum chewing on the small Deer Skull I put in the tree for decoration!!!!!!!  Well at least he sorted all the logs out!!!!! and it was a nice day, shame I was stuck in cleaning and on puppy duty!!!!...................mind you to make up ofor it hes cooking tea!!!!!! ;)

I've had a lovely sunny day too, not that cold in the woods either.  love seeing my dogs hurtling through the undergrowth looking for birds then whipping round on point.  No ambling fro my lot, and it means I have to walk fairly quickly to keep up with them - till the point comes, then we have time to take in all the scents and sounds, while they coulée and flush, then we're off again.
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

Have to second the 'chilly but great' sentiments  ;D
This morning Habasher (one of our dogs) had to break the ice in his outside water bowl with his nose before he could have a drink - then he took the ice out to have an ice lolly  ;D ;D

We kept warm by strimming and clearing out our hen runs (they've been empty since the fox nabbed all our girlies back in June) in anticipation of getting some new layers  ;D

Then we had to wait out in the fresh air (!) for a delivery - that arrived 'dreckly' so we happy to scamper back inside to the lovely woodburner  :D

Been -4 again today with a bright blue sky  ;D I love this weather! The ground is hard instead of ankle deep mud, the yard is dry, there's no water pouring into my house in three places, I don't need permanent waterproofs on and the sun makes me smile  ;D

We've had some snow that froze over night - but today it's been Sun, sun, sun.... clear blue skies - but a very icy cold Easterly wind.
As building was out of the question, and the ground was frozen we took the opportunity to do some more fencing in the hay field, OH managed to get the mini-digger going - we put in the posts with this and he uses it for straining the wire.  I got our little 'Murray' mower out with his little trailer (grandchildren named him and built the trailer) filled it with all the bits and bobs needed and trundled out over the frosty ground.

I've been checking the ewes at 3 o'clock in the morning and it's been beautiful...the stars have been so shiny like diamonds, it felt like you could reach up and take one, the moon was on it's back (is that a sign for rain??)  There has been no wind so all was still, frosty, bright.... wonderful.... also nice to get back inside to bed with a 'hot wheat bag' to warm up my nose and toes. ;D

Sheep were all okay no lambs yet but imminent....

Funny - it was -2 today here east Aberdeenshire but it felt great - no wind - not even a breeze - had to take a couple of layers off and was hat-less for a while!!! Ground is hard - sheep are happy, goats happy and went out for a wander or should I say waddle, they are due next week so not exactly nimble!!
