He's still there as far as I know Julia (showing on BPA herdbook)
But I do notice his date of birth is listed as 2005 - maybe he's been retired ?
They've got a 'Dream Boy' boar too

I phoned and ordered semen yesterday (for a Tamworth) didn't think to check the bloodline though, it'll be arriving today so I'll report back once the post has been  ;)

what is wrong with just asking them   i thought you had a boar of your own  princess
Karen you still not got that sow in pig yet she is coming up to 4 years old so age cant be a  problem
seven years is quite old for a performing boar
most of the Tamworth's in Scotland are from dreamboy unless others have been bringing them up to Scotland   at one time you could get nothing but dreamboy related both boar and sow lines :farmer:

I don't rember ever seeing a 'Golden Ranger' boar at deerpark, they have a 'Royal Standard' of Bill Howes and the Dreamboy.

I've used the Dreamboy a couple of times recently, ordering before and after a weekend, but when speaking to Robert he said he can sometimes be a bit uncooperative about working sometimes!

They've sent Royal Standard semen - don't know where I got the Golden Ranger from cos when I looked again now it is just him and Dream boy  ??? Sorry  :-[

Is your new boar not a Golden Ranger PP ?

Robert - this is the first attempt really. We'd been watching season's, saw it 12 weeks ago, ordered semen 9 weeks ago and waited for her to come into season and she didn't  ??? So the bottles went unused  :-\ We saw her in season 6 weeks ago and waited another 3 to make sure and ordered - today she's standing to back pressure, vulva is puffy and reddened and we're getting the gloves on and lube ready as I type  ;)
Will report back in 3 weeks  ;)

when they came to us last year   the one you have just came out the trailer and was done then and there and pigged to that date     people can say as they want  but you just cant beat the real McCoy      some pigs you can visibly see there season others it needs the boar to show you
the length of time you have had her she should have had piglets now
pigs eh don't you just love them :farmer:

Yeah thanks for that Robert  ::) Unfortunately we're not in a position to have a boar of each breed here and real life has a habbit of getting in the way of plans. I'd appreciate it if you could stick to the motto "if you've not got anything useful to say, don't say anything" when answering my posts - we can't all be as expert & committed as you are and it's not terribly helpful to be told what I already know  >:(

i should have included in my post that there was no visible sign of her being in season
we do not have a boar for every breed we have
as to being expert we have never claimed to be or expect to be an expert  knowledge gained through involvement and passed on to others  oh well i will just become a reader  and let everybody get on as best they see fit :farmer:

Don't go taking the huff Mr W  :farmer: :P :D

But don't dish out "you should have's" to me unless you're prepared to take the flack  ;) (I don't do it to you, or anybody else)
I didn't want her farrowing in January as we had other litters due, then things went haywire, hence the delay. I'm doing it the way that suits me - it doesn't have to suit anybody else, there's not a 'right' or 'wrong' way to do it. So don't go telling me what I should or shouldn't do/have done - cos not even Bruce gets away with that  ;) :o :D

it is not always recognisable the signs of a pig being in  season the best indicator is a boar in the vicinity
as i remember it you were wanting our tamworth boar when you acquired the two sows but he was out on his working tour of Scotland and is still not back home
you can plan for a due date but it is down to the sow to determine  if that date is going to happen or not
i would  not try to tell you any way is right or wrong each to there own and there own beliefs and ideas :farmer:

A little bit work shy are we Robert???? ;)
Cost is the big reason for not having boars on site(of feed, the price of the boar, the cost to housing him, the labour cost, water cost, Government costs,Vet cost, etc., etc.,etc.
Rather the money in my pocket than someone elses.
