I phoned Animal Health at Galasheils (phone no. on SPKA website) who gave me a number for someone in Carlisle who dealt with export requirements - they were really helpful 

Where they're going will affect what tests need to be done, but generally it's a period of complete isolation from the rest of your herd (think it's around 30 days, but I could be wrong) bloodtests/vaccinations and a vet check & form filling/signing within 24 hours of departure. It seems completely overwhelming, and by the time you factor in call out fees for vet visits to take blood and sign off on the paperwork it starts to get fairly costly - but as Julie says, talk to the BPA too as they might have other ways of doing it.

yes, its carlisle animal health that deal with it, plus the international transporter is based in carlisle aswell. iv had loads of paperwork emailed to me so will take a while to look through it. basically the seller usually organises it too...hmm...i have a friend that has exported to italy already so we'l see what happens.

i see sarah at yearle has exported so i think il pass them to her. her stock is great and she can at least offer an unrelated boar too, which we cant. plus i presume theyl go by dover?? so that would shorten the journey by 5 hrs.

i recognise the name wendy scudamore, but i cant think who she is?

Wendy Scudamore is chair of the British KuneKune Pig Society http://www.britishkunekunesociety.org.uk/ and has lots of experience with exporting. She does it on a regular basis. She's lovely and I'm sure would be happy to give advice.
