Hello all.
« on: January 19, 2012, 07:26:58 pm »
Hey all I'm steve from yorkshire. Got hold of a small holding about six months ago, at least I think it's what you would class as a small holding (only half an acre with various barns and other out buildings on it.)
Been spending every day since getting it into shape where I could live here full time and what a nightmare it has been. Lots of blood sweat and even a few tears ( don't tell anyone though as I'm a bloke and they don't get emotional lol.)
It's at a stage now where I am waking up in the morning with the biggest smile on my face and can start looking into what I will be growing and what animals I will be keeping (chickens / goats are no:1 and 2 on my list.)
Will be spending a lot of time on here I guess so I just wanted to say hello

  Hi and welcome from chilly Shropshire.  No prizes for guessing what I keep.  Would like hens as well but not possible at the moment.  My girls are Sanaans and, in my totally unbiased opinion, this is the best breed to have.   ;)

Hi and welcome - hope that you kept a diary and photos of your exploits there. The smiles will turn into disbelief when you look back at what you have achieved to date. I started on our house and barns this time last year in -11 with just a cooker for heat. We now have a log burner central heating at giving us 21 right now and have not bought any veg or eggs for months - pigs are ready for the freezer in March.
I hope that all goes well for you and that you get as much from the web site as I do.
Cheers Martin
