[Miss Piggy]

Hi, i must admit I have in the past just gone down to the local garden centre and bought seeds/plants etc but range is often limited. I was just wondering where TAS members purchased there seeds/plants etc. Would be good to have some recommendations for catalogues websites etc.

I get the bulk of my seeds from the local horticultural society. You have to be a member but they take an annual order and buy in bulk. They are soooo cheap and only sell what grows locally.

Sometimes if you have an allotment association near you they will let you buy seeds at their club's purchase  rate . ( bigger orders for such clubs get big discounts direct from the seedsman  like Suttons , Fother gills etc etc  ) .

Of late I've been and purchased  a few packs of giant veg seeds off a guy on the internet called Clive Bevan. there are not many sees but if they do as he says they should then I'll be happy for  some of the old bigger variety tasty veg instead of the commercial stuff the most  seedsmen sell now adays .

 There is also another place on the net ... it is a penny club where members pay a penny or similar to belong to a club .
As a member your entitled to cheaply purchase their own produced seeds , all members are encouraged to  grow some thing for the seed bank.

They don't need to have pased EEC  seed tests .
If you do it , as a club ,  it helps  keeps alive the older species /types that the commercials don't want because they do not sow , crop , harvest or store very well when using machines.

 There is an amazing pea called telegraph which can hit 12 feet high or long if you grow it in a pig wire arch  This seed source is called " realseeds.co.uk "

I get mine from the organic gardening catalogue available from Garden organic (www.gardenorganic.org.uk).  They're not all organic seeds but they have a good selection.

Real Seeds is good for unusual varieties
Alan Roman is quite good value on a lot of seeds and has an excellent variety of potatoes which you can buy in small quantities if you want a selection of varieties
Stormy Hall seeds are excellent value and good germination (also they are biodynamically grown)
Moles Seeds have vast selection and are good if you can buy in quantity to share
Lidl have very cheap seeds, though I haven't grown any

i just bought mine from simplyseeds.co.uk and they arrived 24hour later which is amazing being that i live in remote highlands and everything takes forever to get here normally.  postage was only 99p so i ordered nearly 20packets of seeds.  can't say how good the seeds are coz i onlyplanted them yeterday but their service is certainly goof and easy to use website
