Two Greyhounds thrown out of a van
« on: December 31, 2011, 11:45:27 am »
Can anyone down in the Kettering/Corby area go and help look for these dogs.  One has three legs, they are tied together with rope and covered in blood.  Thrown deliberately from the back of a van and managed to scramble over to rough ground.  If one dies the other can't get away.  Please help - https://www.facebook.com/groups/168330203267984/

I wish I were nearer :'( Bad luck to the ba****ds who did this. I worked for years with Greyhound Rescue and saw some pretty awful sights but things like this beggar belief. There are no end of places to take unwanted greyhounds including, in the last options, the vets. There is just no need for this. I hope they're soon found safely :dog:

That's what gets me - if you can be bothered to do this, why not take them to a rescue centre? B@stards - hope they get what they deserve

I had a friend round last night in tears to tell me of a whippet that had been found locally, left for dead on the side of the road with it's ears and tail cut off. WHY!! >:( >:( >:( >:(

I will never understand why people do these kind of things Sylvia, there are some very evil people out there.  :'( We had a foxhound in the kennels once and she had her ears cut off so the tattoos couldn't be traced. Sadly I've seen this in Greyhounds too, which is one of the reasons I prefer microchipping. I know it has downsides too, but so far I haven't witnessed any maiming because of it. Why cut off her tail though?  :'( :'(After 27 years of working with rescue animals nothing surprises me - sadly.

that's the kind of thing that goes on in the greyhound world  it used to be common to find them in a canal with a few bricks if they did not make it as a racer   other dogs ended there day this way as well
now there is outrage once it gets publicised  :farmer:

Was out 9:30-3:30 today, no sign yet :( More searchers taking over this evening.....

robert - I can understand the reasoning behind dispatching a "bad/useless" dog - I just can't see why someone would go to the effort of tying them up, having a mate or two in the back to open the van doors, and fling them out on a main road...

to kill them and make it look like an accident
there was a nugget round here tied his Alsatian up to an electric pole when it chewed through the lead and set off he was not happy  especially when i told him it had been shot  :D we knew the woman who gave it a home and every time he passed her house the dog went mental to get him  :farmer:

There have been over 100 volunteers out looking fro these dogs - over an area of about 25 square miles.  The Police have been helpful to an extent and to be honest traps with food bait might have helped but where were the RSPCA who have this equipment?   Anywhere but in Corby!

Did they have a television crew out recording? No? Well you won't see the RSPCA if there isn't one present  :( It's a disgrace.
