Cast iron kettle.
« on: December 13, 2011, 06:06:44 pm »
Hi all,

A bit windy out there,

We are after a little bit of help please.

Does anybody know where we can purchase a cast iron kettle to use direct on our woodburner to fill our hot water bottles and the odd cup of coffee?

we've had a look online but can only find the cast iron kettles that are used for humidifier purpose only and not to drink from.

Any help greatly appreciated

This isn't much help, but for emergencies you can't beat a Kelly Kettle. AKA a storm kettle, I think. Amazingly effective little thing!

I've got a cream enamel kettle from Cargo. It was great yesterday on the woodburner when we had a powercut!

We have a stainless steel one (with a whistle, a friend kept boiling hers dry), just check it has a thick base. any hardware?/cookware shop should sell them.

Ours is a Le Creuset and works well on the top of the wood burner

One of my sons lives near a Le Creuset outlet so gets massive reductions there, and it didn't cost me a penny  ;)  Nice if you can wangle it  ;D
