I was just wondering if anyone else watched the new Countrywise series on ITV last night at 19:30 to 20:00 and what you thought of it?

I felt it has promise, but slightly concerned that it's started as a watered down version of Countryfile... right down to the presentation style and type of music used through it!

I did watch this and found it quite interesting, as you say not unlike Countryfile. I will watch again.

Just watched it on tv now (repeated). Thought it was good. Paul Heiney is a good one to introduce it as he HAS lived the life of a smallholder . For some ten years or so he farmed with horses, after being tought how to use horses , by Roger and Cheryl Clark (now divorced I believe). He also made a few very good programs about learning to use the horses and then some more on Victorian farming , Harnessed to the plough , A victorian Spring/summer and A victorian Winter. Unlike Victorian Farm , Paul knew what he was doing and really was living the life of a smallholder/farmer. Back to Countrywise.....very good program so far , and delivered in Pauls easy going way , hope it continues in the same manner. Countryfile is set to go to an evening slot soon also , maybe to counter the arrival of countrywise?

Hopefully they'll leave Countryfile at an hour when they move it. I seem to recall the odd episode being moved to a Thursday night and only 30mins a while ago?

It would be good to see Countrywise continue and get its OWN feeling. I like the Countryfile format, but it's not the only option and some contrast would be a good addition.
