Party Tents
« on: March 09, 2009, 01:09:41 pm »
Our 17 year old daughter is bending my ear (and father) to allow her to have a party. Having been the taxi driver on numerous occasions picking her up from various friends partys I have  seen the aftermath and have said definately not in our house. Now, she has worked really hard for exams and probably deserves a break. So I thought perhaps she can party in the field/garden, but as my name suggests its always bl**dy raining here and to try and guess the weather is of course impossible. I have seen these kind of marquee/tent type things and wondered if this was a good compromise. Has anyone bought or used one of these, not sure how robust they are, any reccommendations? I am sure a few of you will have horror stories of teenage parties.....
Thanks Jo

Hi Jo.
I have never used them myself but I know a few people who have used Inverhall marquees in Johnstone and they have all had good things to say about them.
Hope all the chicks are thriving.

My friend bought a cheap B & Q one for a pre daughter's wedding party (£70 springs to mind)  and it was great - even when a wee breeze got up, as it had storm ropes.
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

I can vouch for the cheap ones as long as they are not keep up all year (weather in scotland is to mad for them),
if you live in an open area no trees or stuff to stop the wind you need to storm it (like a campping tent) lots of ropes over the top to tye it down and plenty of heavy steaks which you can pick up from camping shops (i belive there is a campping shop in larbert and also uses mountain warhouse in stirling mills tilly)

hope this helps
I was gona ask if all the TAS local member could come and join in but not sure how big your garden is lol

Thanks for the suggestions, will check out ebay etc.
Linz... Partying with approx 40 17/18 year olds could be a challange for me, I think we'll have a grown up party at a later date! For hubbys big 40 we had a party weekend and many guests brought their own tents, I think we had about 25 tents pitched. It was very successful we made it an annual event, tents started arriving midweek before the weekend to get the best pitches and a few were still there the following week!
A great time tho

we have a party every year and use a B+Q marquee thing. £50 at the time but i think they may be a bit dearer now. It's pretty big and has lasted for years, with aid of gaffer tape of course. Anyhow, last years party was on the wettest day in June last year (west of scotland too) and it was fantastic. A few drips here and there where the vents are but no problems.
